Atlanta, GA –  ‘The Academy’ 2001 boys beat Georgia’s #1 ECNL team the Atlanta Fire United at the hosts own Atlanta Select Elite Tournament this past weekend. The final game finished 1-1 in regulation but the boys deservedly won the shoot-out to claim the Championship. It was the second time the teams had met in recent weeks drawing 0-0 at a college showcase, again in Atlanta.

The 2004 team fought through a tense final against the Atlanta Fire United to take the #1 spot in their age group. The boys led the game at 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 being pegged back each time with the score finally ending 3-3. The Academy held their nerve and won the penalty-kick shoot-out that followed. The win meant both Southern States teams went home with the Championships against high level competition.
